When I was a kid my favorite color was green. If you want to get specific I would have said it was more of a Hunter Green than say a yellowish green or a leaf green. I always felt pretty cool about my choice, especially since my grandfather McGiven's favorite color was green, too (according to my mother). He died when I was young so our shared favorite color made me feel a kind of kinship with him.
Somewhere along the way, in the past 5-7 years or so my favorite color has turned to red. I love red, love it. My eye searches out red shirts, towels, sheets, kitchen appliances and utensils, quilts, whatever. I have a red Kitchenaid, red spatula, a quilt I made myself where the predominant color is red and it is Gorgeous! I have red couches, I bought Harold a red shirt, red sheets and red towels in my bathroom (which replaced the green ones). I even wish I could fit my body into an "inspi(red)" shirt made by Bono for Gap. And I wish I could find some sweet red shoes. I want some shoes that "POP" with red.
Here is where I know my infatuation with red is going a little too far. Yesterday while doing laundry I was separating everything into whites that could be bleached, lights/whites that cannot be bleached, dark blues/dark khaki/black, light blues and light pinks and I had a red/orange pile but most of it was red. This isn't the sick part.
As I was doing my laundry during the day I unconsciously saved the red load for last. When I started the load I made a mental note of how beautiful the color was and when I came back to switch it from the washer to the dryer I couldn't help but stop and literally smile and feel happy looking at the red stuff. It was so pretty. Even now that load of laundry brings a smile to my face because it is in the dryer right now, waiting for me to take it out, and I can't wait. I want to look at it and let it bring me some happiness.
I LOVE RED!!!

Ah... I have missed your posts. I am calling you today on my way home from the library. I need to hang out with you. I've missed Jeanna...
I really like red (my dinner plates are red, cherries are supposed to be the theme (though, I've lost most of my cherry stuff!), and I always want red shirts) HOWEVER... I don't buy red shirts because at almost 24 years old I still have PIMPLES! I am now on acutane and will soon have a acne free face, then maybe I can start wearing red too!! p.S. I've always wanted some really sexy red shoes but the perfect pair have been so hard to find!! ;)
interesting...you and i share a similar situation. i too used to claim green as my favorite color. then i went to college and my room was red. and i too searched out everything that was red. i do LOVE it! it's so bright! but then i got married and my husband didn't want his house to "look like a teenage girls room." so now browns and neutrals garnish our walls and furniture. my kitchen aid is the only symbol of my past in it's candy apple red color. jk - it's not that bad. i do have red/orange kitchen towels too. but no longer a red room.
I love bright vivid colors in my wardrobe and I have lots of reds, but my decorating style lends itself more to the sage greens and pale yellows. That probably says a lot about me that I can't decide on a favorite color. You are way more decisive, you choose a color and stick with it in all parts of your life! I like that in a cousin.
I honestly have to say that red is one of my least favorite colors......sorry. I have nothing in my wardrobe that is red. Nada. No red ties, shirts...oh wait. I have a pair a red workout shorts....and I hardly ever wear them. I'm a blue guy. Always have been.
I have that very same "Inspired" t-shirt, and I love it! I don't have nearly enough red in my wardrobe. Thanks for your ode to red, it made me smile.
I think I will go put my red shirt on. :)
I am so happy that you have red towels in your bathroom. I want red towels too but I am afraid of those knappy little white balls that get tangled in the weave and are so noticable on dark colored towels and then they are not so pretty any longer. Convince me.
