Jail Bird

Just when you think there is nothing to blog about....Congrats to a certain someone on not going to jail this week.

Note To My Dear Readers: Pay your speeding tickets. Don't leave it until you have a court date. If you do have a court date, attend court. If you do not attend court a warrant will be issued for your arrest. When said warrant is pulled up on a kind policeman's computer while he has you pulled over for another moving violation, you will be arrested. Your spouse will have to bail you out. Then another court date will be set. Your lawyers may inform you that time in jail is a strong possibility. The prosecuting attorney may not care that you have a family. If by some small chance you avoid jail time...do your community service work. Do not delay.

Note: Harold currently has a speeding ticket (remember Wyoming [hey that sounds like a movie title!]). Anyway, I don't want to pay the ticket. I don't. I think we should be able to pay half and half in order to NOT break the bank this month. But after the story above, Harold thinks I am wanting to push our limit. I don't. I just don't want to pay the dang ticket.

Harold, don't pay. And if you get arrested in the near future, I promise to bail you out.

P.S. The above story is not a story about my husband, although it could be if he doesn't stop harassing me tonight, I may let him rot in the County Jail.

Dude! Contest it! In WA (and it's very likely the same in UT)if you take it to traffic court and the officer who wrote the ticket doesn't show, you're home free, and that happens a lot. If he shows, you still will probably get it redeuced. Ask my lawyer husband. He's done it!

Hmmm...I think Kim would be a good one on asking advice on paying/not paying a speeding ticket. He is notorious for getting them. Our car insurance rates reflect it. We just got pulled over in Lindon on Friday night and we had no idea what for. Kim gets out the registration and licence to show the officer and low and behold the officer is a guy in our old ward. Hallelujah! So, apparently we had a light over our license plates out and that's a no no. Lucky for us we just got the warning! I always tell Kim that if he gets arrested in connection with any moving violation, I will let him spend the night in jail. Dumb stuff. The rest of us seem to manage not getting a monthly ticket, but not him. (I think I spelled a whole bunch of words wrong in this comment, but I am too lazy today to look them up)

Ask Steve what happens to people who don't pay their speeding tickets, he has spent time in jail, not fun. I had a ticket a million years ago in Nevada and never paid it, I just stayed away from their for a long time, now my name is different. Nowadays they have everything computerized, so it doesn't matter what state you are in. I just realized you should call my dad, it may not be a pleasant conversation but he does know what he's talking about.

Just pay the dang ticket. You are not above the law, and everyone else pays them. If you don't want to pay tickets then don't speed. I know you can't control Harolds heavy foot but you could take away his driving privileges. I act so scared when Matt drives (because I really am) that he rarely drives while I'm in the car. It's fine with me. PTSD. I'm more comfortable when I'm in control of the car I'm in.

wow. i was going to be in shock if harold really was arrested...which i thought you were alluding to. i had a warrant our for my arrest from the state of utah. that was only for a short amount of time...and because i didn't pay my ticket. and i can think of someone else that was arrested on their wedding night and their new spouse really did have to bail them out...

i'm sorry that ticket has come back to haunt you. best of luck in whichever route you choose.

I just pay the tickets and believe me I have a lot...but the odd thing is, my insurance never goes up. I'm not really sure what that's all about. I consider tickets to be a "fee" that allows me to speed. That's how I justify it.
