The Birthday Girl with the woman who knows.
On that day at about 7:00 a.m. I got into the shower and felt a weird spurt. I was pretty sure it was my water, but it had not broken. Harold was set to fly out that day, he was working as a flight attendant for Reno Air at the time. He went to my doc appt with me and the doc did three nitrazine tests, two of which came back positive for fluid. Harold called his work and said he wouldn't be coming in. The doc admitted me at 12:00 or so and the pitocin started at about 2:00. At 9:00 p.m. the doc came in looking like she had just come from dinner on the town. She said I looked "fresh as a daisy" (which isn't exactly how I felt) and she broke my water and said she would be back at 5 a.m. the next morning. The first contraction that hit after the water broke was insane and I knew I needed an epidural, especially if this was going to go on for another 8 hours. I started requesting one and the anesthesiologist was busy, so they gave me a shot of Nubain until he could get there. I later found out that the nurse told Harold I was moving along pretty quickly and that an epidural might slow things down. Together they made the decision NOT to give the the drugs. (I won't go into that now, because this isn't supposed to be about me.) Two hours later, at 11:11 p.m., which you will note wasn't the 5 a.m. the doc said it would be, our sweet daughter was born. 7 pounds 3 ounces, 21 inches long. She spent the first night crying out as if in pain every 1 minute or so, all night long. I didn't care. The adrenalin was pumping and was completely thrilled. Savannah Quinn, you are a blessing. We love you. Happy, happy birthday!

i remember mom telling me the next morning that i had a new niece - i was only 13. i was very excited to be an aunt! i feel so lucky to have sav and all my other nieces and nephews be a part of my life more than they haven't. i always thought it'd be neat to have a baby when sav was 13. i think plans have a changed a bit... but who knows, maybe she will be. happy birthday pretty girl! i love you very much! and i hope you enjoy your year as a "teeny bopper"
Happy Birthday Savannah I always thought you were the cutest little girl and now that you're a Young Women, your parents better watch out. You're a pretty girl.
Have a great day!!!
WOW!! I can't believe she's 12. That makes me feel kind of old!! (all 23 years of me, but since i was only 11 when she was born I have doubled my age since then!!) It seems like we'll wake up tomorrow and she'll be getting married in the temple! It sure is crazy how fast they grow. I LOVE YOU.. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAVANNAH!!
Savannah, you are a beauty just like your cousin Holley.... I mean your Mom! Happy Birthday. I hope your day is filled with lot's of love, cake and good presents. Another year and you'll be entering the teen world. Take it easy on your poor Mom, you don't want to end up locked away in a tower. Have a great day! I love that you are having a Fairy Birthday Party, I wish I could come.
Happy Birthday Savannah, you are such a beauty. I can't believe you're all ready twelve. I hope this year brings you lots of joy and wonderful memories.
Happy birthday Savannah!! And Britty, you have a year (and more!) before Sav is no longer 13. Plenty of time. :)
Happy Birthday Savannah! Hope you had a great day today and I hope your birthday party this weekend turns out like you want it to.
Happy Birthday Savannah!!!

That was a pretty exciting day for me, too. All of a sudden I became Momma G before I was age 50--by two weeks. (no one listened to my request that I didn't wan't to be an in-law before I was 50, and certainly not a grandmother. I was still the youngest and felt awfully immature to be old enough to have "grandma wisdom and insight". Savannah, I still think your folks missed a great, once in a lifetime opportunity, to name you something WOWEE! like Savannah Georgia Nichols. Now how many people would have been able to have that kind of a combo in their name? Oh, well. I love you just the same. It makes for a great story, though, when I am on the hotel van or the plane with other flight attendants and pilots. Hope your B-day party today is the best!
Love, Momma G
